Cowards, “Victims,” and Hypocrites, OH MY!

Here’s are my basic thoughts on the people behind Proposition 8 given what I have read today.

– Proponents of Proposition 8 believe in promoting hate and ignorance for the sake of their own heterosexual privilege.

– Way back before the election, the leaders of the Yes on 8 campaign sent letters to businesses who had supported No on 8 condemning them and threatening to publicly admonish them.  Thanks to Jeremy, we still can read those letters, with language like:

The names of any companies and organizations that choose not to donate in like manner to ProtectMarriage.com but have given to Equality California will be published.  It is only fair for Proposition 8 supporters to know which companies and organizations oppose traditional marriage.

– Unsatisfied with voting to rescind rights, supporters of Proposition 8 have filed suit to nullify the 18,000 same-sex marriages that took place during the six months when there actually was marriage equality in California.

– Now, supporters of Proposition 8 have filed suit to have their financial records hidden, so that all donors to Yes on 8 are made anonymous.

… Got all that?

I couldn’t agree more with Equality California.  These people are hypocrites.  They are also cowards who cry crocodile tears of victimization.  They are the ones who hate.  They are the ones who dedicate their time towards promoting discrimination, removing rights, and jeopardizing families… all in the name of what?  Traditional marriage?

Bullshit.  These are hateful heterosexists who have their hearts set on hurting others.  It is their ignorant rhetoric that promotes the rampant homophobia throughout our culture.  What do they need protected from?  They don’t have anything to lose except their power over the rights of others’.  What a horrible loss that would be.  Nobody should have such power others’ rights!  We have courts to protect our citizens’ rights.  You can foolishly call them “activists” if you don’t like their decisions, but they’re just doing their job.

American citizens have free speech.  Anonymous, ignorant discriminators don’t.  That’s just the way it is.  Deal, haters.
