Why aren’t we all protesting Kalamazoo?

It’s the same shit that was happening three decades ago.

Kalamazoo City Commission repeals gay rights law.

Have you seen Milk?  This is the same stuff Anita Bryant was pushing for back in the day.  Good thing she’s no longer with us.  I mean, apparently she’s still alive, but you can’t tell.  But you have to wonder, what is happening in Kalamazoo?  It’s a simple formula, really…

Politics > Human Rights.

I don’t understand why one group of people gets to decide that another group of people doesn’t have rights.  And I don’t understand why we go along with it.  And I don’t understand why we just shrug our shoulders and say, “Well, shucks, guess we lost this one.  Oh well.”

No, not “oh well.”  Please.  It is time to re-rally ourselves.  It is time we show our anger every time.  We need to come out and show these people how hurtful their efforts are to demonize us.

If there were one reason why I feel unhappy with where I currently live in the country, it’s the feeling that I’m the only one who is ready to stand up and say, “That’s not good enough.”  It’s a lonely soap box when it feels like my life is on the line and others’ lives are on the line but people don’t stand with me if they don’t have the time.

How do we rally?  How do we protest?  How do we show our anger and frustration?  How do we make a difference?  Where is the outrage?
