Poem for a Tired Atheist
Poem for a Tired Atheist
ZackFord – June 15, 2009
Moments of great pain and great joy occur
And tempt me to apply significance…
Karma;
Gratitude;
Fate.
So overwhelmed with the feeling of living
Am I.
But is the moment of emptiness and absence
That offers me such meaning,
Reminding me
What is to feel and not feel,
What is to live and not live.
The pain and joy are moments
Most human.
I am led to revel in my capacity
To share such moments with others.
Let me seek not to relish for myself,
But to find balance
So that I might live
To nurture the lives around me.
It is those so close that lend me
Such pain
Such joy
It is their lives that make my own
Worth living.
