Faces For Equality: Dana Strickler
Name: Dana Strickler
Age: 63
Hometown: Kingsport, TN
Occupation: Retired Kindergarten Teacher
Why I Found Her at The NEM:
“It’s time, it’s very much time.” That was Dana’s mantra at the March, which she attended to support LGBT people. “It’s time.”
Dana is part of the Unitarian Universalist church back in Tennessee, a religious organization known for its positive outreach to the LGBT community. She also has many friends and family she wishes to support. There is almost a sense of astonishment in her voice that her loved ones still don’t have that equality, but definitely a strength and determination that she will advocate for them as long as she must.
What She’d Change in America:
As this is the last of the Faces For Equality profiles, I am going to let Dana’s exact words speak for themselves:
Love and acceptance for people of all diversity.
We’re all people and deserve respect and love. We must teach our children that. Parents need to model unconditional love.
It’s time.
