Just a reminder of some of the lunacy the right wing keeps sending out…
Here’s an email I got from World Net Daily today with the subject “Urgent Prayer Request”:
First, of course, I don’t pray for anybody for anything. I’m an atheist. Ha!
Now, do I think it’s okay for people to be persecuted for anything? No. Challenged for delusional beliefs? Of course, but not persecuted. Violence, intimidation, genocide… that kind of stuff is not okay for any reason.
So I’m not a fan of Christians being persecuted any more than I would be any other group.
But this ad pisses me off. It’s not just because prayer is stupid and doesn’t do anything, even if you count how many people are praying.
It pisses me off because of the child in the picture. That little girl is not old enough to decide whether she’s a Christian or not, let alone stand up for her beliefs. If she’s being persecuted, part of the reason is because she is being indoctrinated to be a Christian. If her life is on the line, it’s just as much the fault of delusional Christianity for baptizing her before she could talk as it is any other set of delusions that would motivate people to persecute her.
And further, I highly doubt that if people are being so heavily persecuted (with imprisonment and death), the “number one” thing they would want is for people to pray for them. If I was being persecuted, I don’t think I’d make a numbered list of things I want, but if I did, number one would be “I want these people to stop fucking persecuting me.”
It amazes me with all the power and resources these extremists have how eager they are to waste so much time with empty messages of support. Sorry your lives suck on behalf of our beliefs! We’re sitting around talking to a projection of our inner mind shaped like an old man in the sky who will hopefully use magic power to make your lives less miserable!
Well, not my problem I guess.
