Hey everybody! I need your help.

I’m really proud of my father, because he decided he could not tolerate the racist tea-bagger drivel that has polluted Harrisburg’s The Patriot-News opinion pages for the past couple weeks. He decided to submit his own letter to set things straight. I advised him a little on the letter, but he definitely made it his own.

Now, he’s being attacked on the forums for speaking out. Given the recent violent reactions of Tea Partiers, I think my dad needs all the support he can get!

If you have a moment today, please read my dad’s letter and offer a comment on it! I’ll post the letter below, but you’ll need to go to PennLive.com to comment. Thanks for your support everybody!! (Note, you do have to register to submit a comment. It’s very simple, but takes about 10 minutes to get the confirmation email.)

Right-wingers believe they’re losing control

Since Ms. Williams’ op-ed (“Racism is alive and well in America,” March 2), I’ve noticed right-wing hypocrisy garbage spewing forth on a daily basis, disputing racism as their opposition to President Obama.

They’re against President Obama’s regulating the free market. A nonregulated free market under Bush/Cheney was the major contributor to the failure of the banking system, which the American taxpayer is bailing out.

This same free market mentality has allowed medical insurance companies unlimited power to set policy and premium costs.

They say President Obama is fiscally irresponsible, spending money we don’t have. Bush/Cheney passed two tax relief bills, one that helped big business and the other sending every American a token check — both actions major contributors to the national debt.

Then there’s the Iraq War, a war started by deception and lies that the American taxpayer will be paying for forever.

They say President Obama is a socialist, and government-run health care is socialism. So their doctrine is against government-run social programs such as Social Security and Medicare. I think not. What hypocrisy.

“We want our country back.” I hear this verbal sneer from the right wing over and over again. This utterance first appeared during President Obama’s campaign.

They’re upset because they’re losing control of their country to nonwhites.

JAMES FORD, Newport
