It doesn’t matter that the military violated the intent of the law by conducting witch-hunts among its ranks. (The original full name included “Don’t Pursue” and “Don’t Harass” was added, but to little avail.) It doesn’t matter that it costs the military millions of dollars and important talent. It doesn’t matter that a federal judge just made a thorough argument that the law is unconstitutional.
All that matters is that gay people continue to be held down.
Thanks Republicans. Thanks turncoats. Thanks “Fierce Advocate.” Thanks for nothing.
56-43 to maintain inequality. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell persists.

Sad, sad day.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. We’re either equal, or we’re not, and today reminds us that none of the strategies and “victories” we’ve boasted matter if politics still win out. Our lives should not be up for debate, but as long as we continue to play politics with them, we’ll continue to compromise the very integrity we’re fighting for.
…But hey, at least Glee’s on tonight. That’s progress, right?
